It was an all around excellent experience. Great service. I had the best Delmonico steak of my life here. I recommend the Shallot Butter with it. SO GOOD!!! I'll be back!

My boyfriend and I went in during prime time on Saturday night without reservations. The restaurant/hostess was really accommodating and seated us. You can tell that the waitresses/waiters were super busy. The service was a bit slow and not as attentive. I thought the food was okay but a tad pricey. We ordered the calamari and oyster rockefellers as appetizers. Oyster rockefeller style was good. It's basically a layer of cheese, then a layer of cream of spinach on top of the oyster. We were secretly hoping for Rhode Island style calamari but we were kinda disappointed that it wasn't. The calamari batter wasn't in the style that we liked. But still, the calamari was decent, nothing out of this world. As my main meal I ordered the pork chop. It was tender and juicy. Definitely a must order! Unfortunately, my boyfriend didn't enjoy his main course. He ordered the delmonico steak. He said the steak didn't have a good sear. We wouldn't go back for steak.

The food was not bad, but didn't blow my skirt up either. Steaks definitely overpriced. $42 for a NY strip with a la carte sides averaging $7? That's Ruth's Chris money and this place is no Ruth's Chris. My guess is they know the heavy New York clientele are used to paying that. Decor pretty dated and a little cheesy...place is small and loud. Excellent service though.

I am a fan, Yes! Great food - Great wine list and really good service. The girls were all over our table. I loved my Delminico Steak - cooked perfectly, nice vegetables and truffle risotto - Good quality desserts also. Will be back!

This is a very good restaurant. The food is unique and SUPER! I went on a night that they were having a special event. The place was full and people were chatting and the whole atmosphere was great. Lots of local people who knew each other. They placed us at the bar and so I only saw adults and did not go to check out the restaurant room. The owner is very friendly. The staff is professional. The people that came with me were also very happy with the food and the service. Make a reservation!

It took us a really long time to get a table but we were five with no reservation. It was a bit annoying seeing people come in and get seated while we kept on waiting. They didn't make any efforts put tables together or anything like that, we just kept having to wait for another large party to leave. Overall the food was delicious. I got the salmon but before that I had the Caesar salad and it was delicious. The romaine lettuce comes as a whole and you have to chop it up, but the dressing is great. The butter has cheese in it. Very tasty to spread on your bread. As for my salmon, it was a hot fish except for the cold baby potatoes it came with. They forgot to warm it up. It was gross.

Delicious food, lovely presentation, great friendly service. The atmosphere is intimate with just a touch of the rustic mountain lodge. I notice that most of the negative reviews come from diners who did not have reservations - it's a very popular place - make a reservation and you'll be fine. Had NY strip, prime rib, Delmonico, veal w crab, crab cakes, oysters, and many other offerings - all excellent! Pricey for the Pokies, but worth every bit. This will be a place to celebrate special occasions and to share impromptu dinners.

Stopped in on 7/3/2014 at 9:15pm. The kitchen was closing at 9:30, and the hostess had no issues seating my husband and I with our 2 kids (of course we asked if it was too late). Nice place, cozy atmosphere. The menu is pricey, but worth it!! We split the wedge salad with bacon, which was delicious. I ordered the veal medallions with lump crab and Bearnaise and my husband had the pork chop(not something he usually orders). Both were FANTASTIC! The medallions were cooked perfectly, there were copious amounts of crab and the Bearnaise was up there with some of the best I've ever had! My husband could not stop raving about the pork chop either. It was accompanied by a delicious hunter type brown sauce. The do have a kids menu as well, which was priced great. My daughter had a hot dog (probably the best tasting hot dog I've tried in a while and our son ordered the chicken fingers. They were great! They seemed to be fresh made (along with the french fries) and didn't come out of the freezer. They also have a nice drink menu. We were so full, we skipped dessert, but we had a great experience! Even though the kitchen was closing, we were never rushed and the food was fantastic!

Our meals were delicious. We had the seared ahi and the filet mignon. They were both cooked perfectly. Risotto was great! Good choice for someone who is looking for a nice steak house. We have a lot of steak houses in CA and this one is in our top 5.

Bad, shockingly bad and way too expensive. They have some poor sod walking around handing out pieces or bread instead of having a basket of bread for each table. And the bread flat out sucks. The calamari was OK but a little too greasy for my taste. After that let's go dish by dish: Lamb Chops, awful, simply awful. Wrapped in thick sheets of prosciutto under which there was at least 1/4 inch, maybe more, of pure fat and very, very little lamb. Awful. Prime Rib, it was ordered rare but it looked gray. I was shocked the person did not send it back. Chicken Parmigiana, 26$ C'mon really! I don't care if you serve it with a whopping side of angel hair pasta, way too expensive. Last but not least, the Delmonico Steak. I sat for a couple of moments and contemplated the piece of meat.....it looked really good.....I wanted it to be good because it had been a very long time since I had steak. But it was not good at all. I am not sure it was a proper Delmonico cut. The meat had absolutely no marbling, was more like well done to medium instead of medium rare and had very little taste. The creamed spinach was adequate, the mashed potatoes were really good. Forget about dessert. It was not worth my pressing the keys to type. I have to say something about the decor. If Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible walked in, he would faint. It looks like something out of a bad 50 or 60s movie set in the Catskills. Dark, weird, not dirty mind you. Just dark and bizarre. Even on the outside it looks like it is from a different era and not in a good sense. I would not go back, under any circumstances. For bad food and shocking ambiance I had to shell out 230$ for 4 people and we did not drink. Next time I will buy better steaks and cook them myself

I had just begun to give up on finding a decent meal in the Poconos. But Louie's Prime was the perfect place for our final meal while on vacation. I live in NYC and have really high expectation of restaurants. I needed to do some serious attitude adjustment in order to eat in the Pocono Mountains for a week. Nearly every meal was a huge disappointment. Then I recalled a friend's recommendation from some years ago, so we checked it out. Granted, the talent is in the kitchen. The wait service was uneven at best. They had an impressive written wine list, but the waitress would not bring me a "by the glass list" even though she said it did exist and obviously knew absolutely nothing about wine - not even what was available. So she simply frustrated both of us for no reason - just show me the menu! I ended up basically telling her to just bring me whatever Cab she put her hand on first. If you are unsure about anything on the food menu, ask questions. They will have to leave to get the answer, but at least you'll be getting what you want. The bartender a made great non-alcoholic cocktail and the dry martini was perfect. So was the meat. Both the lamb and the filet mignon were to die for and cooked exactly to order (a rarity in the Poconos)! The sweet and spicy sea bass was over-battered and crunchy on the outside and the sauce was cloyingly sweet. But once you got to the fish inside it was deliciously tender and flavorful. We just had to scrape way that ridiculous sauce. Yes, it was a bit dark in the dining areas - but some might call that relaxing or romantic. We sat in the atrium and the lighting wasn't bad at all. Yes, it was somewhat expensive for the Poconos area. But I feel I got what I paid for. So save up and go!

I give this place the 5 stars simply becuase of the food itself...Ok this place may look a little dark and not too many people dining, but the food far surpasses that. We were on a trip to PA and came for a special birthday dinner. On a weekday, not busy at all. But this places is SUPER expensive..I believe that may be the reason it is not packed. Anyway the steak was the best my husband ever had, dry aged, and $40 and comes with nothing.....I am a very picky eater so without having to rearrange an entire dish was only able to order the chicken parm..It was just about the best I have had...We didn't go crazy and order apps and a lot of sides, but our bill, with a gift certificate was a lot...The only down side, and I have to agree with the other reviewer, the bread was terrible...

An unexpected find in the Poconos, a NY quality steak house. My wife had the Ahi tuna, and I the small fillet, both cooked to specifications. The fillet was as good as I had anywhere, an the Ahi was great as well. We returned with friends a few days later I again enjoyed a fillet while the rest of the group had the Prime Rib, again served to specifications. The Caesar salad was almost as good as I make. Like most other steak houses Louie is a bit pricy, but not NY prices, all dishes a la carte.

We decided to go to Louie's based on a recommendation from our bartender at Split Rock Resort. Call ahead of time for a table the place gets booked up over the weekend. Bar seating was only available so we reserved 4 seats. There is also small booth seating at the bar as well. If your a big person it will be difficult to be comfortable so take the bar seats instead. We unluckily were sat next to some drunk patron so they were able to seat as at a bar booth. We ordered 2 T-bone steaks, the Sea Bass, and a veal dish which they were willing to substitute chicken instead. Everything is a la cart when ordering steaks. We had the bruschetta, mushroom risotto, and redskin potatoes. Everything was top notch delicious. It is a pricey place so expect to pay.
